Red Oxide Primer Aerosol
Preparation
- Remove loose rust, scale and paint with a wire brush then rub down with coarse abrasive paper to provide a firm surface.
- Abrade clean steel with coarse abrasive paper to provide a firm surface.
- Degrease all surfaces with diluted detergent or Hammerite Brush Cleaner & Thinners. Rinse with clean water and allow time to dry.
To prevent blockages turn aerosol upside down and spray for 2 seconds in between coats and after final use.
Application
- Ideal application temperature is 8-25degC.
- Mask off the surrounding area to protect from overspray.
- To ensure optimum performance store the aerosol at room temperature for at least 2 hours prior to use.
- Prior to use shake the can vigorously until the agitator ball is heard and then for a further 3 minutes.
- To avoid runs and sags spray in light even strokes at a distance of 15cm.
- Ensure adequate ventilation during application and drying.
- Spray a light covering coat and dry for 15 minutes.
- Apply a further 2 coats allowing 15 minutes between coats.
- Before applying topcoat allow to dry for a minimum of 6 hours. For best results leave for 24 hours.
