Restore your Fireplace
When a fire surround looks damaged or chipped it can benefit from a fresh coat of paint to restore it. Hammerite High Heat Paint withstands temperatures of up to 600°C so is perfect for this area.
- Ensure that the fire surround is completely cool before beginning. Make sure you have covered the surrounding area with a dust sheet. As Hammerite High Heat Paint is a spray, you must use masking tape and newspaper to cover the areas around the surround.
- Remove any rust or flaking paint from the fire surround with a wire brush.
- Clean it thoroughly with water and a mild detergent to remove any soot, dirt grease and anything else which may prevent the paint adhering to the surface.
- Ensure the can has been at room temperature for 3 hours and shake thoroughly. Apply with long sweeping motions. Begin with a light coat and wait for it to dry for 15 minutes before applying another. Continue to build up thin coats until the desired look is achieved.
